Remember this day forever Friday 3rd Aug '07

Today my Neumann arrived, special delivery. Lot's of packages have been arriving recently at my door - music for my dad, microphones and CDRs for me, moisturiser for Mckinley, so I've not slept in for a week. There's this book by Thomas Westall called Futuretrack5 (it's a kids book really) in which the people of the future are frighteningly efficient and conformist, but when conforming means you get to ride around on fast motorbikes all day it's hardly surprising. But they're all trained from childhood to start functioning as soon as they wake. So their alarm will go off at 6am and they will instantly rise and dress, no eye rubbing, no stretching or yawning, no wandering around in slippers for an hour with a cup of tea. Well, that's how I've been this past week, normally woken by the doorbell, and lest they slink off with my parcel, I bolt downstairs, dressing as I go, signing and printing almost blindly (no eye rubbing allowed).
So, after I'd gotten back into bed and snoozed for about half an hour and then given up in favour of breakfast, I plugged in my newest/most expensive/bestest microphone ever and tested it next to my next most expensive/bestest microphone. The difference was obvious. The AKG C3000 (pictured right) made my 'stookachooka's sound flat and nasal compared to the transparency of the TLM 103 (pictured left). I'll post an mp3 demonstrating the fact later on.
And as if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, DownIGo had a show in Kettering where we played to The Display Team, who were on after us. Then they played to us, but by that point two fat women had joined the 'crowd' and the place filled out a bit. Maybe the highlight of the evening though, was when Alan smashed someone's car window by accident and then got 8 year old scared until the owner of the car drove off desultory, but unquestioningly, at which point Alan became cocky and self congratulatory.
